REFLECTOR: Peel Ply Use

I read the report quickly, and it seems that selection of the nylon creates
the biggest problem- dacron (polyester) is good, although, a mechanically
abraded surface was superior in our testing with the resin that we were
using- mileage might vary with different resins, and different thread count
peel ply fabrics Just know what we determined in our testing. Also some
material was left behind in some tests (can't remember the details now) that
affected the bond. You could not see it easily unaided against the black
carbon pre-preg material- might be easier with the glass that we are using
on the Velocity.

I have never used nor will ever use peel ply to form a prepared surface for
bonding- we did some studies at Bell Helicopter in the early 90's that
confirmed this problem almost word for word with the FAA tech report-

Alex;

Do I misread the report - it seems the conclusion was that using uncoated
polyester provided a surface which had good bond quality.
