REFLECTOR: Converting an RG to a Fixed gear?

I helped a builder convert his XL from RG to FG for insurance reasons.   The insurance company insisted that he remove the hydraulic pump.   We fixed the overcenter mechanism for the mains so that they could not come up, and then glassed over the openings in the fuselage and made gearleg fairings for the mains and installed wheel pants.  I think that the builder took care of the nose wheel as I do not remember what was done there.

I don't usually get faster than 130 kias when I forget to raise the gear.  That's what reminds me that I forgot.  I suppose that would be ok at high altitude, but you'll get a lot of cold air coming it and it will be a bit noisy.
