REFLECTOR: ldg gear display poll

Don,

My main gear switch is activated by the over center locking arm.  The green won't come on unless the over center is not only over center but also locked.  It is possible for the gear to be all the way down and the over center not going over center in which case the gear will collapse on landing.  Two switches instead of one and you still don't know if the gear is safe is a bad idea in my opinion.

For what I've seen, most builders have a single switch on the over center linkage for down and locked. Since the mains are tied together, it is pretty much impossible for one main to be down/locked and not the other. 

So how many RG builders have installed separate left and right switches? Where did you mount these switches?

    If there is a problem with the gear or gear doors when retracting, say the in transit light stays on. An alarm will sound aural and flash, and cycle every 3 minutes until the problem is taken care of.
