REFLECTOR: MT Prop failure mode?

The EFI/Ignition has a limit of 2800 RPM, before it takes over, so the 
prop is not doing it.  This is happening so quickly, that the tach 
output never registers 2800, but  peaks at 2760.  I then pull back the 
throttle and try and sneak up on 2700, but it is difficult.
