REFLECTOR: Gear up or down to land.

The greatest fear I have about an off-field landing is finding the world 
upside-down with about 2000 pounds of airplane preventing me from being able 
to open the canopy..  and being aware of a fire in the engine compartment...
I carry a hammer... but will that be enough to get me (us) out in time?
Based on this, I will go in gear-up.
