Even more important, on the right side a passenger can catch clothing or a shoe on the
lever and accidentally open it.  I had this happen while on short final at a class C
airport.  Couldn't figure out why the pump kept running and had to make a quick
decision.  I trusted my green gear-down lights and held my breath on touch down.
