REFLECTOR: XP-400

One of my friends has an XP on his RV.  It backfired and blew the entire
bottom out of the oil pan.  I saw the pieces.  Very stiff plastic with
no web reinforcements.  I now know of two with the same malady.
Superior had bragged that the molded oil pan allowed improved air flow
to the intake and was polished.  It is also very light.  Unfortunately
not strong enough.

The person that called, did not give any details, but since it is going
to be an issue with the whole XP line, it is the same sump that is used
in the other models currently in production.

Anyone know what that is?

Are they using a carbon fiber sump?  I have heard of problems with some
of these sumps cracking if a back fire occurs.
