REFLECTOR: Mag Hookup

Craig,

A few basic thoughts:

Make *sure* you figure out which mag has the impulse
coupling - else things could get ugly and expensive.
Obviously you'll want to hook that mag up to your
"left mag" switch. I choose to leave the mag with the
impulse on the same side of the engine as a tractor
installation. So it's only on the "left" if you're
looking at it conventionally (from the rear of the
engine looking towards the prop). I also put a big
"left mag" label on that mag.

Your mags may have a small ground screws near the #10
P-lead screw specifically for connecting the
shielding. Also, make sure you trim back the shielding
at the switch panel at least 1/2". If the grounded
shielding makes contact with the center conductor it
will defeat the mag regardless of mag switch position
- don't ask me how i know...
