Skip the re-timing.
Add water injection, to be triggered off manifold pressure, or go really
high tech and do ionic sensing for detonation. You'll love the
increased efficiency or horsepower.

I wonder how long it would take for cracks to show up on the cylinders
if one runs at these high BMEP pressures on large, hot,
lightweight(thin) aluminum cylinders.
Motorcycles get away with it. They run much higher BMEP, but they are
small volume, thick cylinder walls.
Just go diesel. Problem solved.
Of course the Franklin is 10.5:1 compression for 350 cubic inches. But
it's a six cylinder to the Lyc's four, so the cylinder diameters are
smaller resulting in lower stresses.
Many nice things happen as you increase the number of cylinders relative
to engine swept volume. Exhaust valves are cooler, cylinder temps are
lower, pressures are lower peak forces are lower, vibration is lower, etc.
I bet if one did not have to retard timing on the 360, you could get 230
to 240 horsepower.
