REFLECTOR: AN washers

I doubt anyone could take a "washer" comment as insulting or bad taste.  Chill a bit.  The bite of a washer will seldom cause any damage.

	Robinson helicopter had a problem back in the 80's with the flex plates that connects the tail rotor output drive of the transmission to the drive shaft breaking.  This arraignment is a set of two thin (.062) plates that in effect work as a universal joint.  The sharp edge of the washer will act like a "cookie cutter" if put down,  putting a ring indent in the surface being held, causing a stress riser to focus stresses and causing the failures.  To make sure the correct edge (rounded edge) was put down in field repair, they machine there own -4 washers with radiuses on both sides to be used in this application.  Even though an AN will work, to be airworthy, the Robinson part must be used.
