REFLECTOR:Franklin fuel pumps

AD 2002-18-51 required taking the engines out of
service until the diaphragm-type pump AC4886 was
replaced by a suitable replacement.  SB 72 gave
instructions for the installation of the PLL-7
vane-type pump.

Service Bulletin PZL-F/76/2003 specifies using the old
gear and gives instructions for taking the old gear
off and putting the new on.  However, it may not apply
to you, so read further.  The SB states on the front:

A. General

With reference to the Service Bulletin PZL-F/75/2003,
this Service Bulletin specifies a replacement
procedure of the 26.11.0132 gear of "fuel pump drive",
manufactured by WSK Rzeszow installed on engines made
by Franklin Engine Company, for the 20666 gear
manufactured by Franklin Engine Company.

I have no idea what SB 75 says.  Looking at my parts
manual, the gear off the old, membrane-type pump had
both the 26.11.0132 PZL part # and the F.E.C. 20666
part #.  The new, vane-type pump has only the PZL
26.11.0132 part number.

My interpretation now is that SB 76 appears to only
apply to engines manufactured by Franklin Engine
Company, Syracuse, NY, which, after acting on SB 72,
now have the new WSK-Rzeszow manufactured PLL-7
vane-type pump installed.  That wouldn't include me or
anyone with an engine manufactured by PZL.

Clear as mud and please don't hold me to my
interpretation.....it isn't always clear what they
have in mind.  I only have SB 76 on hard copy but
would be happy to send you a copy.
