Brian,
The obvious solution to that problem is to just get the prop out of beta,
and use forward thrust instead of brakes!
Actually, of course, there is no justification for moving in reverse in a
Velocity for any reason.  The visibility out the back is so poor that it
would present an unacceptable risk.  Just push the plane back before engine
start!
However, having beta available for stopping on a short runway might be kind
of handy sometime!
