Just passing the story on as told to me by the pilot and copilot. My pardner 
and I were doing the avionics maintnence and helping out on the mechanical 
maintenence when the event occured. Could Craig (the pilot) have been  lying 
to us? possibly. But to my knowledge, they haven't 'lost one' since.

I dont know about a B-24 and an outboard engine. whether one could hear the 
high freq of the metallic noise directly, or if it reduced to a harmonic 
through the airframe back into the cockpit. Sorry, I have no cockpit time in 
a B-24.

I would use ANR if I flew routinely. I do not. I merely passsed the story on 
for discussion. This event took place when Bose first hi9t the market some 6 
or 7 years ago?
