REFLECTOR: TEST FLIGHT WITHOUT TOP COWL

I would refrain from doing that since it's not clear what will come off the engine after it faces a 100 kt wind and off course hit your propellor.

You really don't want to do it with half the cowl installed since the wind will probably cause a truly exciting flutter on the cowl which will tear off immediately
and definitely destroy your prop.

Would it be ok to test fly around the pattern only without the top cowl installed.   With the armpit scoops feeding into a tops-down plenum arrangement.
