REFLECTOR: Fitment of Rear Aileron Control Bracket

Not sure about the XL crowd, but in the basic SE,     you don't normally use full deflection in flight.    At full throttle, you would get an interesting roll rate if you held full left or right deflection.   A little goes a long way.
I have the older set up (circa 1997) and the two tubes are simple bolted together with a washer in-between.    About every 25-30 hrs I have to tighten the nut to minimize control slop in the keel.

Everyone probably saw I answered the question.

In my opinion, the front part is more critical to get the max deflections called for in the book.  There should really be a section on how to measure for max deflection when the stick is mounted.

It's a strange configuration, because the stick is mounted tangent and right of the main torque tube.  Commanding a left roll, the stick will rise out of the keel slightly making your left max deflection easier to achieve.  Rolling to the right, the stick goes down into the keel, hitting the right side of the keel cutout, which limits the max deflection to the right.

I haven't heard of any failures of the stick attachment, and it's very simple, but I think a better design would be to use a larger diameter tube with a hole in it that slips over the torque tube, and pivots with a bolt in shear only.
