REFLECTOR: Seat Cushion Foam and Materials

I am ready to start carving out seats on my Velo project.  Does anyone have a recommendation for supplier and material used for your seats?  I am a "corpulent" fellow and would hate to spend upwards of $350 per seat to find out that they can't hold me.  Also, does anyone know of any reference information on how to upholster?
