All,
Interesting article on failure of Airbus Glass Flightdecks:

  Pilots report cockpit power failures in Airbuses; some jets still awaiting fixes.

Seems even commercial-grade glass goes to sleep at inopportune times occasionally at this stage of the technology's development. This problem seems fairly severe. A few steam gauges for backup might be the MO for the foreseeable future as we head solid-state on our flight instruments.
