REFLECTOR: Proposed Fly In Brady TX 19MAY2012

I'd like to invite all brother and sister Canardians to the Fly In at my
home town airport of Brady TX. This is an annual event begun last year with
a great turnout a year ago from the Warbird, experimental and GA
communities. Attached is a flyer of the events planned, a B-25 will be here
and I believe rides given for donation. There will be AH64 Long Bow(s) and
a full complement of USA Helicopters from Fort Hood Air CAV, SNJ and BT13
at least. Commemorative Air Force is on notice of the fly-in and will not
completely commit further assets than mentioned, but discussions of other
warbird arrivals are possible. There is a WWII Museum being started by a
local Dr. here and displays from WWII will be out. KBBD, Curtis Field was
an Army Air Corps training base in WW2. A gentleman will be in attendance
this year who trained at Brady and flew P-38's for the the First Marine
Division with the unit that shot down Yamamoto. He's in his 90's and lives
in Brownwood TX. There is a WW2 style hangar dinner and dance in the
evening with a 1940's style live swing band. It was fun last year: $25/head.
The Nimitz Pacific War Museum is 75 miles south in Fredericksburg, but you
need a full day for that museum.
All are welcome, any who wish to overnight can stay with us at our house in
town to our capacity (5 kids, 2 labs and a cat: full disclosure). We have
other flying families in town who are empty nesters or kids at college who
have empty bedrooms for those allergic to children. I've overcome my
allergies to them. We have great hotels as well.
Certainly we can see my bird in it's current non-flying status
(prop,aileron cable, heat issues), and hanger-fly in royal Canardian
fashion.
