REFLECTOR: Wheel Pants and speed?

We haven't done anything that I would consider a test, but we did notice a
very large difference once we put the pants on our XL.  The mains were
worth at least 10 kts on thier own, but also seemed to affect the deck
angle and float on landing (my theory is the drag and cleaner air getting
to the make the difference) quite a bit.  The nosewheel was worth a few
more (we threw it off in a hard landing and are about to paint and
reinstall it).


It was so different that we were convinced our Catto prop was totally
overpitched until we got the pants on, at which point it just kept spooling
up to 180+ kts.  We haven't let it run all the way outt yet, so I'm not
sure what our max speed is, and we'll be changing to a constant speed prop
soon anyway.
