REFLECTOR: cylinder drain valve

It's a whiffle valve.  Wow the price has gone up I got mine from Continental
and it was only $45.  I've heard McMaster Carr has something similar.  Jorge
just bought one for his Lyc.  I forward to him also.

OH, OK.  Sounds like a whiffle valve.  

This must be a normally aspirated engine correct? 

The whiffle is closed by suction which happens when you start the engine and
the MP in the intake manifold is lower than ambient pressure.  When the
engine is shut down the whiffle opens and allows any fuel to drain out of
trhe intake system. It's mainly there to drain the fuel when you flood it
and it doesn't start.

If thats what it is, any fuel resistant check valve that opens and closes
with a very low differential pressure should work.  Make sure it is
installed so the side that closes it by sucking on it, is towards the intake
and the other towards the outside atmosphere.

Not all continental engines have that drain plumbing as described. 

If its not a whiffle valve disregard all that!

I dunno. From the manual:

The intake manifold on the Continental has 3 separate 1/4" lines on each
side of the
engine coming from each cylinder heads to a manifold. From here we need to
make
two hard lines that join together at the back of the engine at an AN824-4D
Tee fitting.
After a short run from the AN824 you will switch to Mil-H-6000 line. Before
the
drain exits the cowling you have to connect to a short run of 1/4" aluminum
line that is
flared at one end with an AN818-6D and an AN819-6D. Screw in an AN815-4-4D
fitting into your 1H19-6 Cylinder drain valve. This is provided by
Continental. Attach
you line to this and route the drain valve out the bottom of the airplane.
