REFLECTOR: Franklin Will not turnover when hot

You probably have not done this but I did so I'll share. Hydraulics reservoir cracked. I removed the battery and replaced the tank. When I reconnected the TWO terminal ends one fell behind the battery and I did not see it. Hooked it all up. Engine would not turn over. Did the things mentioned and used car battery. After 6 hrs of removing solenoids, starter, rechecking connectors, etc., I reversed the jumper cables during my trouble shooting. Burned out the entire Vision engine monitoring system and all sending units. Monochrome Vision no longer made. Cut out mid panel and attempted retrofit to new VM1000c. Would not fit Big mistake. Four months and over 100 hrs and over 30 calls to J P I tore it all back out and installed EI MP-50. Six more weeks and 50+ more wires. Flying again.
Two points
1. Careful with the car battery trouble shooting. $4000.+ mistake.
2. The cable was found when I started retracing my steps and removed the battery and found my # 2 neg grd going to engine block. Reconnected - problem evaporated. My bad.
