REFLECTOR: BBQ 2011 Recap

I too would like to thank everyone involved in setting up the BBQ.  This is
always a "do not miss" event at OSH for us.  Not even that moat of mud could
keep us away.

 

The food was great, the beer was great but the company was the greatest.  It
is good to meet fellow builders and flyers face to face.

I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who made it to the Velocity BBQ
2011 edition, otherwise know as "MudFest".

 

We get a great turnout of builders every year because the fliers and factory
support us by attending.  We had a great mix again this year, and I want to
particularly thank those who RSVPed and/or donated to the cause.  Although
the factory supports the event very generously, their contribution cannot
fully cover the expenses that your planning committee incurs to host the
event every year.  Likewise, we can manage those costs and host a quality
event when you take the time to RSVP as your plans solidfy, and your help is
greatly appreciated.

 

The weather cleared up and held just long enough for the BBQ, and we had
over a hundred attendees again this year.  Ken Baker once again wins the
unofficial brat-eating contest with an unverified 8 brats to his credit,
while I took the ice! cream challenge with 4 ice cream sandwiches.  The
party lasted well into the night, and I think everyone from new faces to old
friends had a great time.  If you missed us this year, please try to make
plans to attend next year.

 

I particularly wanted to thank Andy 'the Mayor' and Theresa Millin for being
the soul of the event as well as providing the meat, Jerry Brainard and Andy
for cooking, Elizabeth Ferrell and Linda Brainard for staffing the welcome
desk, Ken Baker for the libations, Scott Baker for heading communications,
and Albert Khasky for bringing damn near everything else.  Also, many thanks
to the rest of the committee for helping brainstorm, plan, setup, and
everything else that has to be done to host a cookout hundreds of miles from
home.
