REFLECTOR: Rear seat hard points

Hello Peter,
Suggest "mocking up" the pilot seat, including mounting the seat base to the adjustable rail mechanism.  Place the rail adjuster in a middle position.  Situate yourself inside the aircraft - move the seat (without moving the rail adjuster mechanism) to a comfortable position.  Mark the seat rail location on the floor of the aircraft and from this position, define the seat hard point location(s).  Be _sure_ to orient the seat so that the rail travel is parallel with the keel.  Keep in mind space requirements for seat belts and seat foam.  After this is done - mount the front seat, then do more or less the same procedure with the rear seats to determine the base mounting bracket locations.  If you plan to fly with adults in the back seats, plan accordingly for knee room.  If most of your flying will be with small children in the rear, you can position the rear seats further forward, leaving room for a larger baggage platform.

  All,
  The manual gives dimensions for the front seat hard points and goes on to explain that the rear hard point locations are left undefined because of the builders choice in terms of finishing off the rear portion of the aircraft.


  Two part question: what are the various close-out options? - it seems most folks are putting in a false bulkhead to finish off the rear area.  How do the options affect the hard point locations and what are you guys doing to locate those hardpoints in the absence of a concrete rear close-out plan?
