plane  around in the hangar 180 degrees from the direction it is setting  now.  
If the ball is still out the same direction and same amount  (relative to the 
plane), then you can be dead-certain it needs  adjusting.  It's an easy to do

Thanks.  I just went to the hangar.  The ball is in the same,  off-center 
position as when I'm flying, so it seems likely that the  turn coordinator needs 
adjusting.  I'll check the wings per your  recommendation.

You need to find a level spot to park your  plane.  Most hangers have floors 
that are nice and flat.  Your  canard is a good place to check to see if the 
plane is level since it has a  nice straight upper surface.  You should be able 
to get things level by  adjusting tire pressures.  If the ball is centered, 
your good to  go.  If not you may have to enlarge the instrument mounting holes 
a tad  to adjust it.  This assumes that that your plane is built straight so  
that the wings are level when the canard is level.  Cross check by  measuring 
the height above the floor at the wing tips to see if they are the  same.  If 
you adjusted your tire pressure for leveling, be sure to  re-inflate them to 
the proper pressure.

   I don't know of a measurement you can use. The goal is to  make sure that 
there is some air load on the rudder. I would imagine  that not every winget 
is set exactly the same so the  airflow across the outboard side would not be 
the same on every plane. That  being said I have (and have seen this) adjusted 
by eyeing up the rudder from  the front of the winglet making sure the rudder 
can see some air on the  outboard side.
    Oh Yeah, make sure the ball mount is level before  adjusting the plane!!!

Great discussion.  My ball indicates a little right rudder is  needed during 
straignt and level flight.  So I need to either add  more shim to the right 
rudder or remove some from the left.  Is there  a critical amount of concavity 
(space between the straight edge and where  the rudder attaches to the winglet) 
that avoids flutter?

Make sure  your roll trim is centered. 
If the  rudders and tipsails (a.k.a. winglets) are properly aligned, and you  
don't have asymmetric drag (like a big scoop on one side); then some  shim 
washers on the wing bolts are likely in order. Increase AOA on the  right; 
decrease on the left. I'd suggest having material about .030",  and then it's trial 
and error.
A  straightedge on the outboard side of the winglet/rudder should show a  
slight concavity; and should be the same on both  sides. If so, also check that 
the straightedge makes the  same angle to  the fuselage centerline on both 
sides (that's a little more difficult).  A slight misalignment in rudder or 
tipsail can be corrected by  shimming a rudder outward – shim on the inboard edge. 
Any asymmetric  drag can be handled the same way; shim  the rudder opposite the 
drag.

When I let go of the stick,  the plane wants to roll right. I plan on using 
the EZ-Pilot for aileron  trim (I haven't turned it on in flight yet), but I 
would feel better if  the plane flew straight hands free without the EZ-Pilot. 
What should I  adjust? Should I add a fiberglass trim tab outboard below the 
left  wing?
