REFLECTOR: Static RPM Question

The effect would be a net loss of RPM. As an example, my Cherokee 235 with an IO-540 will only spin about 2100 RPM on an 80-degree day at 5000' field elevation. My same RPM on a winter day of say 40, is about 200-250 RPM higher (fixed pitch prop)



Flying out of a field below 1000' I can get it to red line on takeoff and above on a shallow climb. 



If you don't have one, print out a Koch Chart. Amazingly simple & accurate.

I was in Laramie last week, field elevation around 7300 feet. I was 
surprised how sluggish the plane was moving on the take-off roll. I pulled 
the mixture out a little and got about 2200 RPMs during the roll. Two blade 
fixed pitch cruise prop and a non-turbo'd 195 hp engine.
