REFLECTOR: Engine Lubrication

Actually the old large recips common on airliners used water injection. It 
was used to prevent detonation more than anything else and only really used 
on Takeoff. I also used to work on helicopters, and the original Bell 206L 
used a water/alcohol mix to reduce EGT's.
