Hi,
I can add to this.  I wrote to Vance a month or two back.  He was nice
enough to offer a new bubble if I send him $2.  On 4/4/08 I sent the money
and nothing has come.  In a subsequent email, he wrote and told me he was
out of town for a while and he'd get to it on his return.  I don't question
his integrity in the least, but nothing came.  I forget stuff too.  I never
sent a 2nd reminder.

Here's my story start to finish on Vance's site gauge.  I burn 100LL, but
during construction I sloshed the tanks w/ auto fuel.  They both worked fine
during the slosh.  On my first load of 100LL, an inch or two of fuel went
into one site gauge, got trapped and stayed that way no matter what was in
the tank.  The other one worked OK.  

In the absence of any new bubble faces, here is what I did.  I drilled a
small whole thru the front bubble and on thru the back half and into the
tank itself.  I also have to say that I put cabo in a bigger hole in my tank
wall around the spot where the lower hole of the site gauge would be.    So
I was opening up that lower back hole thru a clump of cabo.  Otherwise there
might be some fuel-to-foam contact.  

To close up the bubble hole on the front face I used Resin Research epoxy
which is clear.  I use a piece of safety wire was an applicator.  It sealed.
It's working...except the damn little orange balls never worked.  They sit
in the bottom.  

Vance, if you reading this, put my $2 in the plate next Sunday.

For those without the metal eyelets... send me a self addressed envelope
and I will send you a set of them...  To install them you will have to
grind the clear bubble around the edges to break the 2 BID bond and
carefully POP the clear bubble off the white background (use a sharp
chisel)  Drill up the inflow outflow holes and super glue the inserts.
Resand the bubble and reinstall.

If you damage the clear, send me 10 bucks and I will send a new bubble.

The problem with a TOTALLY IMPERVIOUS MATERIAL TO ALL KNOWN FUEL WITH
ITS ADDITIVES IS THAT YOU WONT BE ABLE TO MOUNT IT TO OUR AIRCRAFT... IT
WONT BOND to the fulelage sides.   Its called  polypropylene.

The stuff Im using now barely will bond and thats why the  2 BID
surrounds the gauge, to capture it .
