REFLECTOR: Insulation?

I made half-moon shaped 1/4" aluminum shields. Each extends approximately  7" 
to the front, 6" up and 8.5" to the rear of the center, and mounted between  
the gear leg and stub axle. I then connected the front and rear halves of the  
wheel pants and cut them lengthwise so there is an inside and outside  
section. At the same time I took nearly 2" out of the cross section of the wheel  
pants. Each piece then mounts to the aluminum shield. This places a large shield 
 between the brake rotor and gear leg. In addition it serves as a heat  sink.
