REFLECTOR: elevator trim

I am flying an old Vel with the straight trim piece attached to the torque tube. I feel like it is very stiff with very little movement in either direction. Have any of you, flying older models, switched to the newer goose neck trim piece? If so, has it lightened up the stick force? How difficult was it to switch?
