REFLECTOR: Bendix Fuel Servo Failure

Herb you may have checked this already but there has been a number of hex plug coming loose from the regulator cover on the RSA-5 and -10  fuel injection servos.  I have found two myself.  Both of these were on new engines.  But some had been found on 200 to 300 hrs after overhaul.  

The ones I found were two different problems.  One had the safety wire rapped around the plug and had gotten between the gasket and the housing.  The other the plug was so loose that the plug could be just backed out with the safety wire still attached.
  
With the plug loose or removed the pressure deference on the regulator could cause an in-flight failure but may run fine on the ground.  By just shoving fuel into the intake of the fuel control would act just like a very rich carburetor and bypass the injection system.  So this would not prove anything.  

So before anything else check to see if the plug is loose or that gasket is OK. If the unit was overhauled by Precision after August of 2006 there is a very good chance that this could happen.  AD note 08-08-14 relates to this.  Also S/B PRS -107 dated 3/6/08 tells what to do with it.   So if you haven't check this yet, be sure you do.
