REFLECTOR: homebuilt accident rates

A timely article in October's Kitplanes magazine charts the accident rates of homebuilt vs. manufactured airplanes. Some interesting accident rate statistics: 

Total U.S. fleet = 0.61%;  
Homebuilts = 0.87%;  
Homebuilts after Phase I = 0.71%; 
Cirrus = 0.85%; 
Post-1996 Cessna 172s = 1.25%; 
All rotorcraft = 1.62%; 
Homebuilt rotorcraft = 1.02%; 

Congratulations to us. I'd still like to see that post-Phase I statistic beat the total U.S. fleet average, though.
