REFLECTOR: Nose Gear Problem

Hey TEC, 
 
Little activity in the last few days and felt like breaking the silence with a good one.
Just joking but didn't know it was this strict as I have read a lot of non-related issues
that have been anything but funny and have heard no protests.  Anyway, I understand your
point and will stick to serious aviation topics in the future, sending these only to some
members off the REFLECTOR list.  
 
Now a real nose gear problem we FG guys are faced with.  The nose gear shock mount
provided in the kit seems to get deformed after just a few normal landings and a couple of
plates already added (K. Steiner's picture) promoting shimmy and leaving one feeling not
very good about the setup.  The factory recommends adding an aluminum plate to fill the
gap; a remedy that doesn't seem to last any longer.  Although the factory has a supply of
the shock mounts, they have stopped manufacturing them (old auto part) and Velocity will
eventually run out of inventory too.  Some builders have had to change them almost
annually and not because it takes that long to deform.  Has anyone looked into a better
solution than replacing the part every so often or keeping the part in place until the
next annual?

You are totally wrong.  The reflector was created to get away form a "chat room" and be a
vehicle for building assistance.  It has drifted from that IMHO.  I was one of the first 4
reflectorites and the main objective for the reflector was to be used for "business".  I
know, "hit the delete button, it takes no time", B. S.  You still have to open the post
thinking that there will be some relevant information,  just to find some personal chit
chat directed to a particular person.  Don't get me wrong, a chat form is fine, just not
what the reflector was created for.  I have a whole hard drive full of these kind of
things sent to me, which one should I post first, and where will it stop?
