Robin,
I saw the plane right after it happened. The brake disks were, shall we
put it, blue. Those brakes had been toasty many times. Also I did not
see anything wrapped on the gear legs. The gear leg had reflowed the
glass before the accident. When the tire popped, that was enough to take
the first wheel off and when he hit the dirt the second one came off.
