REFLECTOR: oil temp problems solved

Hi Steve
Please understand this is only an experiment that was very effective   to get 
the oil temp down.
My valve is the type that is in the oil filter housing and is in my  hand.
First make sure the LYC service bulletin has been complied with at the  valve 
and seat are in good condition to make a tight seal.
Then remove the snap ring.
Remove the 3/16 spacer rod.
Now by trail and error make in new longer rod that will hold the valve  
tightly against the seat wish some spring tension.
re install the snap ring .Put the filter housing back together.
 Now all the hot oil will go thru the coolers regardless of the  temperature.
Be very careful you could blow out your coolers. Do not run the engine  over 
1000 RPM. until oil temp indicates 70f. and no flight until 100f.
We have been running our XL IO 540 300 hp for the last 12 months
