    Don't you have a metallic fire protection sheet on your firewall about
that size?  Maybe that could work?

Yes, Robin; I do.  But - the installation instructions say the antenna must
be within 20 degrees of vertical, and the ground plane at a right angle.  I
guess the rules will need to be bent a bit.
