Hi, TEC,
I reread your post and you did say AFP sent you the injectors. However,
peaking within 30 degrees of each other still doesn't mean anything. If
cylinder #1 peaks at 1550F and cylinder #2 peaks at 1375F, they may well
be perfectly balanced--that being both peaked at exactly the same gph
fuel flow.
Maybe we're talking about the same thing, but it doesn't look like it.
However, if AFP did this work for you several years ago, perhaps Don was
balancing the fuel flow of the injectors and it just happened that your
absolute Peak EGT of each cylinder was within 30F. If so, it was a
coincidence and not the result of AFP's injector balancing.
All of this may just be semantics. If you are able to run 50F LOP and
the engine is smooth, then all that a lean test would do is confirm that
your fuel flow spread is probably in the desired <0.5 gph difference
range.

If you're on the east coast, fly into Air Flow Performance in
Spartanburg, SC. He'll take care of monitoring/interpreting the test
flights, adjust injectors and get them balanced to reduce your fuel flow
spread across all cylinders to <0.5 gph...and cost you 1/2 what GAMI
does, which lets you do all the work.
Hmmmm. Read my post, I thought that is who I said did my work, I never
said a thing about having or using a GAMI. I should of said my EGTs
were within 30 degrees of PEAKING of each other.
