TEC,
I hate to rain on your happy-parade, but the EGTs are irrelevant (well,
nearly so). The absolute value of the EGT are affected by many things
including installation position, TC accuracy, et al. All the EGT is
used for is to monitor when a cylinder transitions from rich of peak
(ROP) to lean of peak (LOP). That point will be the Peak EGT.
The object is to balance the injectors so that as you lean out the
engine wherein all of the cylinders reach Peak EGT within <0.5 gph (and
preferably 0.2-0.3 gph) of fuel flow. Whether the peak EGT on a
cylinder is 1450F or 1550F is not relevant...only the fuel flow rate at
which it reached Peak EGT--whatever that number is.
The GAMI website has a good explanation of how to do a Lean Test to
determine the fuel flow spread across all you cylinders as they pass
peak EGT. In sum, you adjust your injectors to control your fuel flow
to each cylinder, not the EGT.
Anyhow, it's simpler than it sounds. If you're on the east coast, fly
into Air Flow Performance in Spartanburg, SC. He'll take care of
monitoring/interpreting the test flights, adjust injectors and get them
balanced to reduce your fuel flow spread across all cylinders to <0.5
gph...and cost you 1/2 what GAMI does, which lets you do all the work.
No knock on GAMI as they are talented and have brought innovation to the
GA market...but AFP has as well.

I called Airflow Performance years ago and told, I think it was Ron,
exactly what EGT each of my cylinders were in steady, normal cruise, and
the numbers on the inserts in my injectors. He sent me three new (his
own make) inserts for my LYC injectors, each in a little boxes labeled
with the cylinder number to put them in. My EGTs are within 30 degrees.
It was one of the cheapest things I did on my engine. Also, regarding
the "file" method, the surface finish of the orifice is very important
to flue flow rate in regards to surface friction loss.
