REFLECTOR: Oil cooling

Subject oil temp.

On most models of lycoming.The by pass valve will grow  in length  when 
heated.
When  tightly seated all oil goes thru the coolers.
We modified our so it is fully seated all the time.
The oil temp. is 30 f cooler.
please note this is not legal on a type certified aircraft.
Andy if you have a fax give me the number I will send you a copy of  the 
Lycoming service instruction to repair the seated and explains how the valve  
works.
Do you have a scanner and would display it on the reflector?
