REFLECTOR: Shimmy on landing...Some clarifications please THANX!

My experience with my XL FG with 230 hours on it is that a contributing  
cause of shimmy is not maintaining the correct tension on the large nut and by  
allowing too much dirt to build up the bellville washer  area. Clean them fairly 
often, lubricate them and tighten them as the factory  says, maintain 40 lbs 
tire pressure. Then the frequency of shimmy becomes much  reduced. Yes, I have 
experienced it a couple of times, but on investigation I  have found one of 
the above conditions to be present.
