And then to make it fast:
A retractable canard to lose all that nasty lift.
A really thin main wing.
Smaller winglets, aligned for more speed.

Better yet:
1: Buy a tube, say something that looks like a rocket tube.
2: Put some bigger tailfins on it .. maybe wing sized, and move to just 
aft of CG.
3: Add small flying canard, no hinged surfaces ... suitable for 
supersonic flight.
4: Profit.
