REFLECTOR: RE: NOSE WHEEL GOT SIDEWAYS

Occasionally, my nose gear doors were closing BEFORE the nose gear was 
fully retracted.  This would cause the nose gear to hang out in a 
semi-retracted state.  The only clue was a paint mark on my landing 
light (nose gear mounted) and about a 35 knot penalty in cruise speed.  
On the second try, it would retract properly.  I had a slow hyd. fluid 
leak in the nose door cylinder for a long time.  When I rebuilt the 
cylinder, the retract problem went away.  I'm still not exactly sure 
why the leak would cause the retracting problem.
