Palm Springs has issues.
A. AOPA charges up the kazoo for the event, worth it however if you  take 
advantage of all the forms (this makes your calendar quite full for  anything 
else), and B. Palm Springs usually closes down due to limited parking  for all 
the fly-ins.  They divert to other airports then shuttle you  in.
 
Texas sounds like a mutual meeting area IMHO.
