REFLECTOR: IO-540 Engine Plenum & lower baffles

Where you see the large hole on the rear side of #6 you need to  form an 
aluminum patch. It is to curve around the push rod on the top end and  then extend 
the proper distance down. It is held in position with silicone  adhesive, 
according to what the factory did on mine when I was installing the  engine there.
 
I extended the bottoms of the plenum cylinder covers with aluminum and  
closed the gap on the bottom of the cylinders to about 2.5 inches to prevent the  
cooling air from flowing away from the cylinders after it was beyond the skirts 
 on the original plenum. I then used a 1/8" threaded rod across the bottom of 
the  cylinders to keep the aluminum snug against the cylinder fins. The 
further one  can keep the air within the fins on the cylinders the cooler the 
cylinder  will run (within reason). The only caution is to leave enough space to 
allow the  air to flow out. It is instructive to look at the baffles between 
cylinders that  the engine manufacturer placed there.
