REFLECTOR: Franklin CHTs

John,

I have a very long taxi to runway 16 or 34 at HPN and 
most of the time a ten minute wait to take off.

It is not unusual for the CHT's to reach 280 - 290  F
during the take off stage. During clime out, they will
briefly approach 400 F then drop back to 330 - 350 F.
During cruise, if I try to lean the mixture, the CHT's
will clime quickly to 370 - 380 F.

This fall, I'll change from a single plenum to dual plenums,
I'll let you know if that helps.
