REFLECTOR: Nose GearGas Spring Orientation

I seem to remember a discussion stating the nose gear gas spring 
orientation should be with the gas reservoir 'up', but the construction 
manual shows it with the reservoir body 'down'......my gear will not 
drop easily with the dump valve with the reservoir in the 'up' 
orientation due to the body rubbing on the sidewall of the center 
console (I could probably fix it easily by bending the attach point on 
the gear mechanism inward a little bit)...but it will work with the 
reservoir 'down'....is this something that really matters if the gas 
spring is replaced at each annual inspection???   THANX   Jeff Clough
