REFLECTOR: Checking Magneto Timing with a Digital Volt/Ohm Meter

8.  The other mark is on the starter ring - and there is a dimple on the
upper starter flange that is the zero point.  The dimple on the starter ring
is covered up by the prop extension cover - but I made a mark out on the
ring gear it self.
If at all posable, use the marks on the back of the ring gear and not the 
starter hole thing.  I have found the "starter hole" to be off as much as 2 1/2 
degrees.  And while your at it, beg, borrow or steel an indicator and check 
your engin for TDC against the ring gear.  You only have to do it once, then you 
know.  However, I have not seen one off yet.
