That's true for the Franklin/IVO combination.

I was thinking more along the lines of a 4 cylinder/IVO combination, as far
as the history goes.

Maybe the Franklin works well with so many propellers is because of the
torsional damper built into the flywheel?
I'm sure you know, but maybe the others don't; the Franklin has a damper
which is a steel ring encased in a viscous silicone type fluid, all housed
in the flywheel.  It's job is to smooth out torsional pulses on the
crankshaft.

Brian; that is very interesting.  The viscous damper is the best type of
damper for torsional vibration, and eliminating resonance.  To be most
effective, it could be "tuned" to a specific engine-prop combination; but in
any case, cold make a large difference in pulse stress transmitted to the
prop. Maybe with one of these on a Lyc the IVO would work there also?
