E-Mag has a website and the pricing is on this
linkhttp://www.emagair.com/E-MAG_product_page.htm. Makes one wonder if
change from the Rose EI and mag combo to a Rose/E-Mag combo if a person's
mag gave up the ghost and had to be replace. Two timing-adjustable EI's
with the E-Mag still independent of outside power source (the version that
is equipped with an internal generator) in case the electrical and battery
goes south--seems like an idea.

Subject: REFLECTOR: E-Mags
Well guys I had two of those E-Mags in my hands the other day at Oshkosh.
It is real. They are first class and the people know what they are doing.
I'm only sorry they don't have the six cylinder version yet. Won't have
till after the first of the year at best.
They have them for the four cylinder Lyc's and Cont's with both the
generator type and non gen type. For those that only want the single unit
and one mag you can go with the non generator type. But if you want a dual
system then run one with the generator and one without. It is only a couple
of hundred bucks more for the generator type. The generator is actually
built into the small space between the electronic board case and the
mounting flange to the engine.
You can get them with either the aircraft style plug wire adaptors or the
auto type. I prefer the auto type. They have a very positive locking device
on them. And come off the back at a 90 degree angle.
The coil part of it can be removed from the electronic part and a plate can
be provided to close both the coils pad and the electronic pad. Then you
can mount the coils remote. They have a three wire three foot extension
cable provided to remote the coils. This will help those Velo people that
have a tight engine to firewall installation. The installation is a breeze.
That makes the engine side of it only three inches deep. Less then a vacuum
pump depth.
The advantage with these units over the Slick units that still use the mag
with points is that the plug gap is .035 and a much hotter spark all the
time. With the Slick units you have to still use the closer gap because of
the switching to the standard magneto if the electronics fail. So the
electronic part of it is still not that efficient in firing the standard
plugs that the magneto requires to fire. Also you can use the $2 plugs with
the E-Mag or the aircraft plug with a much larger gap. So doing producing a
much better spark. Parts that don't exist don't wear out. Electronic
ignitions deliver greater energy, allowing spark plug gaps to be set much
wider. The result is a hotter, longer length, and longer duration spark.
There are no kick back issues that you find in other system that seems to
destroy some starters, let alone other parts in the engine. The E-Mag has
to see at least three revolutions or a positive rotations before firing. So
there is no chance of kick back. This makes people like Sky-Tec very happy
and will then guarantee their products. Right now if you put a Light Speed
on with their starters there is no guarantee. I still think Sky-Tech could
fix this problem with a better drive using a sprag drive.
E-Mag can very the timing with either RPM or manifold pressure. There is a
built-in switch, on the base of the board, that can you can select for
either. I prefer the MAP. The MAP pickup is hooked directly to the board
module. Very compact and direct. The tach pick-off is connected directly to
the mag cut-off switch, if you want a digital type tach. No need to change
out the wiring for the mag switch. If a grounded mag switch you select a
(A) hook-up, if a power hook-up you select a (B) wire at the mag, that
simple.
