It WILL introduce and error in the readings.  I am told that the
magnitude of the error is roughly the temp difference between
where the "trick" wire joins the "standard" wire and where the
standard wire ties to the instrument.  So if you make that
junction in the cabin where joint temp is within 15-10 deg of
the instrument temp, the error will be 15-20 deg.  Trivial for
EGT, manageable for CHT.
That's the rumor I heard - YMMV .... Jim S.
