REFLECTOR: "Sand" in paint, in canard elevator nose pocket

Not this particular technique, but this is similar to "dimpling". There
was an article in SportAv back in early '98 that talked about the
improvements made on a biplane by using dimpling tape on the wings,
control surfaces & prop. Same principle - delay separation.

 

Personal opinion - don't think it will help all that much. I plan to use
VGs. I actually had a dimpled prop on my RV-6A. The before/after
difference was imperceptible.

Anybody experiment with subject feature?   It has been mentioned to
energize sheet of air jetting over elevator top, thus delaying
separation.
